About the game

Short description

Farr is a real-time online card battler set in the world of Ferdowsi's Shahnameh, the Persian Book of Kings. Build an army from the heroes and demons of Iranian legend, spend your elixir with care, and bring down the enemy fortress before the three minutes are up.

Long description

A battle in Farr lasts about three minutes. You drop troops at the right moment, balance attack and defence, and break the enemy towers one by one. It is easy to start and takes time to master. In online 1v1 you face a real player, or you can challenge a friend to a friendly battle.

The cards come from the heroes and creatures of the Shahnameh: Rostam and his horse Rakhsh, Sohrab, Esfandiar, Arash the Archer, the Simorgh, the White Div and dozens more, from common to legendary. You collect cards, upgrade them and build your own eight-card army. Every win brings Trophies, and Trophies carry you through twelve arenas, from the Starting Field to the Kayanian Throne. Each arena is a place from the epic: the Alborz mountains, Mazandaran, Turan, Damavand and more.

Every card carries a story from the Shahnameh, and playing unlocks Ferdowsi's own verses. Clans, clan wars, chests, daily quests and the Shahnameh Pass add to that. The art draws on Persian miniature painting and the music is epic.

History & story

What does “Farr” mean?

In the Shahnameh, farr (farrah-e izadi, “divine glory”) is a heavenly radiance that falls on worthy kings and heroes. Whoever holds it wins and rules, and whoever loses it falls. The game’s visual identity is built on that idea: light means the presence of farr and darkness its absence. The logo has three parts: a golden halo, the Kayanian crown and the word Farr in Persian calligraphy.

From turn-based strategy to real-time card battles

The project began as “Shahnameh”, a turn-based strategy game with kingdom building, turn-based battles with the epic’s heroes and player alliances. The team then changed course and turned it into a real-time card battler. Heroes and creatures became collectible, upgradable cards, and the earlier art and technology carried over. The game launched as Farr on Cafe Bazaar and Myket, and its browser version is open at faargame.ir/play. An English edition for Google Play is in preparation.

Key features

  • Fast real-time battles

Matches last about three minutes. Play online 1v1 against a real player, or a friendly battle by friend code or QR.

  • Shahnameh cards

Dozens of heroes, divs, soldiers, spells and buildings, from common to legendary. Eight-card armies and card upgrades.

  • Combat classes and a counter ring

Every card belongs to a combat class, and each class counters another. A good army is one that closes the ring.

Group chat and battles for clan glory.

  • Chests and quests

Chests after victories, daily quests and monthly prizes.
